Hi,

I saw the Umarex P8 NBB. The brochure claims it has a velocity of 150 m/s and a power of max 2.0 Joule ... Which is somewhat a mismatch, because 150 m/s with a 0.2 BB is about 2.25 Joule.

Anyhow, does anyone recommend this brand/replica? Or would you discourage buying this particular one?

You may reply in dutch, no problem :-)

Kind regards,
Jimmy Scott

If you want to play with this replica in Belgium, it will not be accepted in known skirmisch, because the FPS and the impact of the bb is way to hard. especialy if it comes in contact with sensitive parts of the body (ears, teeth, nose, eyes, etc...)

i think the max FPS is 450 for a AEG and blowback
bolt action rifles 500 fps.

the impact with 450 FPS can knock your teeth out. what will happen if the joules are pushed up. maybe right through your goggles...

i'aint stopping you from buying it, its just. May you use it?

no no no! sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough :-)

This is the type of gun I want to use for target practice at home!

(ps: it's Non BlowBack (NBB), is it still not accepted then? because that will be ~492 fps ... IF the specs are correct, which I doubt somehow :/)

Is there anything about the brand Umarex in general I should know? I want to be sure it's quality stuff.

I think they make low budget AEG's ( in other words crap)

But I've heard that KJ works is involved in this, so the quality might be acceptable, but never believe the statistics.

In case it's crap, which brand of high power co2 handgun would your recommend?

buy what you think is good lets say KWC sucks big time butt I owned a gun that was very very good in winter time no other brand came close to it in winter time, so good or not thats up to the buyer no ??

if you ask what gun is good then you start a ongoing dispute thats goos on & on & on ......:-)) like on any other site....

wezze, your right, but I'm looking more for general tips because I don't have that much experience. I'm willing to buy a replica, but don't waste my money on it.

It would help a lot if I knew which brands people like for co2 and why they like it. My question was indeed to simple and to open for discussion. I'm more interrested in things you guys would look at when buying something with the purposes I have, or things they rather not want it to have (and why); eg: I would prefer Non BlowBack because it uses less gas.

I don't like to end up buying an underpowered, unmaintainable, gaseating or inaccurate replica to try and shoot accurate from 10-20 meters if you know what I mean. I would go like "!@#$%, why didn't I just spend the extra X$ to get that other one!".

Maybe a side question, I see there are 'Gas' and 'CO2' guns, what are the differences between them?

CO2 is compressed air with a CO2 filler and you put this in the magazine

Gas is another type of blowbackgas (flamable) but the gas is stored in the magazine it self.

there are difrent types of gas and CO2

CO2 replica's are powered by CO2 capsules.
Gas replica's need to be filled with gas.

allmost all airsofters use the Gas replica's , its cheaper then the Co2. and it does not exeed the FPS limit.

If you want a Co² take this one http://www.softair.arcoefrecce.it/detail_english.asp?Codice=12196
If you want a Gas operated one i recomend this one.http://www.softair.arcoefrecce.it/detail_english.asp?Codice=12629

Thank you very much, now I know the difference and an indication of what a replica should cost.

gas guns are most of the time less powerfull (handguns) butt i prefer gas guns because of the badlooking mags in the co2 guns and the cartridges are in my eyes very expencive 1 € per piece and you can shoot maybe 2 mags whit it in winter time only one.
